Dr. Dennis McKenna
Ex-CEO Albany Med Health System
Dr. Dennis McKenna served until December 2025 as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Albany
Med Health System, northeastern New York's largest and only locally governed health system,
overseeing the region's only academic medical center, one of the nation's oldest medical colleges, and a
workforce of 14,000 across more than 100 locations in 25 counties.
Dennis is a renowned emergency physician who joined Albany Med in 2000 and still practices as an
attending doctor, he guided the system through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Capital Region's
vaccine rollout, and spent 20 years in the Navy — including a deployment to Somalia and two tours in
Iraq — retiring as a Captain.
